The Dallas Morning News has recently shared an interesting story about a retired physical education teacher, Dale Irby, who wore the same 1970s-era polyester shirt and coffee-colored sweater in every yearbook photo for 40 years.
PE teacher Dale Irby chose polyester shirt and brown sweater vest combo for the first time in 1973 for his yearbook photo. The next year, he accidentally repeated the same outfit and for his third yearbook photo his wife Cathy dared him to repeat the same thing again. The 40-year tradition finally comes to an end this year when Irby chose to retired.
“I was so embarrassed when I got the school pictures back that second year and realised I had worn the very same thing as the first year,” says Irby. But once the dare got underway, things changed: “After five pictures, it was like: ‘Why stop?’”
